The High Performance Training Clinic will be at Saint Johns High School. The clinic days and times are posted below. Each class is $50 and I recommend 2-3 times a week for optimal improvement.
Rain Policy: If I cancel the clinic due to rain I will text you the morning of the clinic and the session will be pushed an extra week. If I do not text you, assume the clinic is on at the scheduled time.
Sickness Policy: Because I rent the courts and expect a certain amount of kids to be there, I cannot offer refunds for sickness or unexpected travels. Please text me all the days you can attend before the clinic starts.
- The clinic will start with a 5 minute tennis-specific dynamic warm up.
- I will next pair the kids according to a predicted level and they will do a 10 minute match style warm up with their partner.
- Then, for the next 45 minutes we will work on mastering the technique to a specific shot. Shots that will be covered will include the rally ball, the approach shot, the angle shot, the short and deep slice, the short and deep volley, the swinging volley, the overhead, top spin serves, slice serves, flat serves, and return of serve. I will first bring the players together and describe the exact technique to the shot. Then, they will work on the technique to the shot in a game-like format where they will move up and down depending on how they do. The purpose of this game-like format is to assure that (1) players play against others of an equal level for that skill, (2) players play against many different players of different game styles, and (3) players get to incorporate the shot in a competitive situation. I have also found that competition makes players focus more and thus master the technique faster than without competition.
- The last 30 minutes will be dedicated to singles matches in a tie breaker format where kids will move up and down depending on how they do. The emphasis here will be on applying the shot of the day in a match and the mental side of the game.
Attached below is the schedule. I hope to see you there!
